We don't have an actual recipe for this delicious soup but this is how my mom makes it. The smoked sausage is made by a local family and gives it great flavor. It has no fake smoke flavoring, which is what makes a huge difference. Some people also add carrots to this soup. We used fresh cream, but it should be buttermilk or sour cream (not the thick store bought kind though). What my mom does if she doesn't have buttermilk, she adds vinegar to the cream, hence the texture you can see in the video. For the herbs, we freeze little cubes especially for this soup. Its dill, parsley, chives and beet greens. As for salt, we didn't add any since the smoked leg fat (the meat that we cooked first) is salty already and the soup didn't need any extra. Basically, you cook smoked pork (really smoked, not just fake smoke flavoring) in some water for about 50 minutes. After, add the potatoes, sausage, herbs and buttermilk.
